The weight of the transformer/choke will depend on its design configuration, power rating/utilisation factor, bandwidth, construction materials.
That is heavy audio.

Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
9444A has some nice grunt.
I've got one all taken apart. I picked it up years ago, needing work..... fan missing, and I don't recall if it was supposed to work otherwise or not. Looking at the transformer, I suddenly wondered how much it weighed so I put it on the bathroom scale.
I'm trying to decide what to do with this thing...... it's a bit beat up, rusty, and dirty.

In that shape probably best as parts. I would sell a fairly clean one for, say , 75 bucks. Don't have any A model at present, only B. The B is not quite as nice.
Your neighbors called. They like your music.
Yeah, trying to sell the parts on ebay, is probably what I'll do. Working 9444As go for more than $75 now. I haven't seen any really cheap ones for quite awhile. When I bought mine they could still be found for $40 if you were patient. I've noticed the 1594A getting consistently listed for higher money too..... I don't know if they're actually selling or not. Those use to be almost worthless on ebay, because everyone wants the B version.
